Cutting Edge Stencils Shares Creative Card Ideas Using Stencils

Good morning, my card crafting friends.  We here at Cutting Edge Stencils are smitten with the hand crafted look.  For us there’s nothing better than receiving a card that was created from imagination and the personal touch.  Today we’re sharing some fun card making techniques using our stencils!

We’d like you to meet Laura, the crafty gal behind the blog Occasionally Crafty.   Laura loves making her own cards so when we launched our new line of card stencils, she couldn’t wait to try them out.  She chose our Birch Forest card size stencil. Laura had always loved this nature-inspired pattern but could never commit to painting a whole room so the new size was perfect for her.  Rather than painting or inking on the design, Laura decided to trace the stencil using a pen.  She used a white pen on a black card and then added a bird cutout with wire nest.  Laura says, ” I love how it looked!”

Next up, we have Karen, the creative card queen from Karen’s Kreative Kards.  Karen says, “I have had so much fun the last week or so playing with stencils from Cutting Edge Stencils and this is my favorite card so far.”  For this card, she used a new technique to craft a screen or panel card.  She sponged our Entwined Card Size Stencil using two colors of distressed ink and then decorated it with various dies and stamps from Repeat Impressions.  We love how it turned out!

Karen also put the free stencil that we send out with all purchases to good use.  She spotted a new card technique called, Copic Chalking.  She decided to test it out using her free hummingbird stencil.   Karen colored around the opening of the stencil with her Copics (an alcohol based marker).  Then she pulled in the color to the paper with a paper towel slightly damp with Copic colorless blender fluid.  The result was a lovely chalky look.  Karen cut the hummingbird stencil out but left a small white border.  She attached it using mounting tape.   We love the special touch that this technique brings to the bird stencil.
